abstract | The present invention provides a novel nucleoside / nucleotide monophosphate kinase cDNA cloned from a human macrophage cDNA library. This kinase phosphorylates UMP and can utilize many phosphate donors, but has shown selectivity to transfer phosphate from ATP or UTP to cytidine monophosphate (CMP). Therefore, this kinase is called cytidine monophosphate (CMP) kinase. This kinase has been shown to be an Mg 2+ -dependent nucleotide kinase encoding two ubiquitously transcribed mRNA splice products of 3.2 kb and 2.0 kb and contains other nucleotide modifying enzyme genes. Has been mapped to the p32-34.1 region of chromosome 1, which is a known region. |
