The present invention relates to methods for preventing reovirus recognition in the treatment of mammalian cell proliferative disorders, particularly ras-mediated cell proliferative disorders. The mammal can be selected from a dog, cat, sheep, goat, cow, horse, pig, mouse, human, and non-human primate. The method of the present invention comprises inhibiting or otherwise inhibiting the immune system of a mammal, and simultaneously or subsequently, substantially reducing the effective amount of one or more reovirus growing cells. Administering to cells growing under conditions that cause lysis. In particular, the method provides for reovirus treatment of an immunosuppressive or immunodeficient mammal to treat a proliferative disorder. Induction of immunosuppression, immunosuppression, or other methods in a mammal in an immunodeficient state makes the reovirus more effective. |
