Thermal digital lithographic printing plate |
abstract |
Disclosed are thermal imaging elements useful as lithographic printing plate precursors. The element includes a hydrophilic substrate, an underlayer comprising a first polymeric material, and an ink receptive top layer comprising a second polymeric material and a dissolution inhibiting component. The dissolution inhibiting component can be a separate dissolution inhibiting compound and / or the second polymeric material can serve as the dissolution inhibiting component. Upon thermal exposure, the exposed areas of the top layer become more readily soluble in aqueous developer, which removes the top layer and reveals a hydrophilic substrate surface. The lithographic printing plate thus formed has an excellent property that the developer does not sludge. |
