titleOfInvention | Method and kit for moistening the surface of the eye |
abstract | A method of moistening an eye in which a predetermined amount of an aqueous fluid is administered to the eye in an amount that is less than the amount at which water drains and removes the normal tear film from the surface of the eye. Preferably, the fluid consists essentially of water. That is, it contains no therapeutically active ingredients, but can contain non-therapeutic components such as preservatives, lubricants, surfactants, and buffers. This fluid, when administered according to the present invention, fills rather than rehydrates the existing tears and replaces the tear film. Also disclosed is a kit for moisturizing the eyes according to the present invention. |
