abstract The present specification relates to an ionic composition comprising a cation [Ct] + and an anion [A] − , wherein the anion comprises a central nucleus of a Group 13 element bonded to a fluoroaryl ligand. At least one fluoroaryl ligand is substituted with a siloxy group represented by the symbol -SiOR 3, R is a hydrocarbyl or hydrocarbylsilyl substituents for C 1 -C 30. [Ct] + can be selected from any cation that can be used with the olefin polymerization catalyst and is generally an anilinium or ammonium trityl carbenium cation, a Group 11 metal cation, a silylium cation, a Group 1 or Group 2 hydroxide salt. And the anilnium, ammonium, tritylcarbenium, and silylium cations containing a C 1 -C 20 hydrocarbyl, hydrocarbylsilyl, or hydrocarbylamine substituent to one or more hydrogen atoms of the cation.
