abstract Flooring, floor coverings, carpets, carpet tiles, and methods having better lightweight cushioning are provided. The lightweight cushioned carpet includes a lightweight primary carpet having a base and a plurality of pile-forming yarns projecting outwardly from one side. A layer of reinforcement material bonds to the opposite base of the pile forming yarn. The reinforcement layer is adjacent to and may be embedded in the cushion layer of a polymer such as polyurethane. Also provided are devices and methods for forming lightweight cushioned carpets or carpet tiles of the present invention.
