A three-dimensional low-friction vaso-occlusive coil (1) has a three-dimensional box or cube-shaped part. The three-dimensional box or cube will form a basket that fills the anatomical cavity at the site in the vasculature to be treated. The vaso-occlusive device is inserted into a catheter, through which a first substantially linear, non-active configuration capable of reaching a desired portion of the vasculature to be treated, and a device to be treated. A second three-dimensional orthogonal working configuration that occludes said desired portion of the vasculature and at least one strand of a flexible material formed to have a portion (8) that takes up. The vaso-occlusive coil may optionally have a substantially J-shaped or helical portion that fills and reinforces the three-dimensional portion. |
