The present invention provides a fusion protein comprising a protease portion and a variant portion, wherein the variant portion has a modified amino acid sequence of the parent amino acid sequence, wherein the modified amino acid sequence has an amino acid substitution at position 63 corresponding to SSI. For proteins. The parent amino acid sequence is selected from the group consisting of SSI, an SSI-like inhibitor, a variant of the SSI, and a variant of the SSI-like inhibitor. Such fusion proteins are useful in cleaning and personal care compositions. The invention also relates to cleaning and personal care compositions comprising the fusion protein and DNA encoding the fusion protein. |
