titleOfInvention Process for producing β-alanine-N, N-diacetate and salts thereof
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high yield and high purity β-alanine-N, by an efficient method using 3-aminopropionitrile as a starting material instead of iminodiacetic acid and β-alanine used in a conventional method. An alkali metal salt of N-diacetate is produced. SOLUTION: By reacting 3-aminopropionitrile with hydrocyanic acid and formaldehyde or glycolonitrile in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkali metal salt of β-alanine-N, N-diacetate is obtained. To manufacture. Alternatively, a reaction of 3-aminopropionitrile with hydrocyanic acid and formaldehyde or glycolonitrile in the absence of an alkali metal hydroxide is carried out, followed by hydrolysis to give β-alanine-N, N-diamine. Produces acetic acid and its salts. [Selection diagram] None
