abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for synthesizing an aryl sulfur pentafluoride compound. In one aspect of the invention, at least one arylsulfur compound is at least partially reacted with a fluorinating agent to form an intermediate arylsulfur trifluoride product; Exposing the aryl sulfur trifluoride product of the above to a fluorinating agent, optionally to a source of fluorine, to at least partially react to form an aryl sulfur pentafluoride compound.
