An electrolyte membrane used in a direct methanol fuel cell for generating electricity by directly supplying methanol to a cell without reforming the hydrogen into hydrogen and a direct methanol fuel cell using the same. SOLUTION: A dihalide compound having an aromatic ring is used as a raw material, and a sulfonated polymer obtained by polymerization in which aromatic rings are directly bonded to each other is used as a proton conductive membrane.
