abstract In a method of applying a coating liquid on a support using a die, a precise in-plane uniformity required for an optical film or the like can be realized and a coating film without coating unevenness can be obtained. It is another object of the present invention to provide a coating film obtained by the coating method, an optical film on which the coating film is laminated, and an image display device using the optical film. A coating liquid is supplied to a die while controlling a liquid level of the coating liquid in a coating liquid tank without using a supply device in a section from a coating liquid tank to a die.
