abstract The present invention provides a method for chemically recycling aromatic polycarbonate. An aromatic bisphenol and a di (carbon number) formed by reacting a disk-shaped optical recording medium whose main component is an aromatic polycarbonate with a subcritical or supercritical aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. In a depolymerization method for recovering (1-6 alkyl) carbonate, an aromatic polycarbonate is melt-filtered from a disk-shaped optical recording medium, and then reacted with a subcritical or supercritical aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.
