titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for manufacturing glass material
abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method of manufacturing a glass material having a more uniform optical property and physical property along the longitudinal direction than before in a glass material manufacturing method by an MCVD method. A glass raw material gas is sealed in a glass tube, and the glass raw material gas sealed in the glass tube is reacted by heating the glass raw material gas to generate glass, and the glass is adhered and deposited on an inner surface of the glass tube. By doing so, a glass particle layer or a glass layer is formed to produce a glass material. In the above manufacturing method, one or more plasma generating gas selected from the group consisting of N 2 (nitrogen), argon (Ar), neon (Ne), and helium (He), and a glass raw material gas are sealed in a glass tube. Preferably, a high frequency voltage is applied to the sealed gas from outside the glass tube to generate plasma in the glass tube, thereby heating the glass raw material gas to generate glass particles.
