titleOfInvention | Method for producing copolymer latex |
abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a copolymer latex which is excellent in the strength and elongation of a latex film obtained even when dried at a temperature near room temperature, and which suppresses an increase in latex viscosity. A 100% by weight monomer mixture having a specific composition comprising a conjugated diene monomer (a), an aromatic vinyl monomer (b) and an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (c) is emulsified. A method for producing a copolymer latex to be polymerized, wherein a polymerization reaction of a monomer mixture containing 50 to 85% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (c) is started, and then polymerization in a polymerization system is started. When the conversion reaches 70% by weight or more, the remainder of the ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer (c) is added to the polymerization system to continue the polymerization reaction, thereby producing a copolymer latex.
