A method for producing a conventionally known nanocrystalline lithium titanate spinel by reacting lithium ethoxide and titanium alkoxide at a high temperature by a sol-gel method. The problem can be solved by producing nanocrystalline lithium titanate spinel by reacting lithium hydroxide and titanium alkoxide at a high temperature in a reaction mixture that forms water by reaction.
