abstract | The present invention provides an industrial method for producing trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-bromoacetophenone and trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-hydroxyacetophenone, which are important intermediates of medicines and agricultural chemicals. A presence of alkylene diols trifluoromethyl substituted acetophenones, by bromination with Br 2, into a cyclic acetal of trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-bromoacetophenone, then acidic conditions, the water-reactive This produces trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-bromoacetophenone. Also, trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-hydroxyacetophenone is produced by reacting trifluoromethyl-substituted 2-bromoacetophenone with water under acidic or neutral conditions.
