An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing an optically active β-aryl compound useful as an intermediate for medical and agricultural chemicals. In particular, it can be produced in a short time and in a high yield under mild reaction conditions that are industrially advantageous, and the versatility of the reaction is expanded to provide an industrially useful method. An α, β-unsaturated compound substituted with an electron withdrawing group, a vinylboronic acid or a derivative thereof, an arylboronic acid or a derivative thereof, or an arylboronic anhydride is converted into a specific rhodium compound and an optically active phosphine. A process for producing an optically active β-aryl compound, comprising adding a base and reacting in the presence of a rhodium complex formed from the compound. [Selection diagram] None |
