abstract | 【Task】 Provide a disease model animal useful as a model animal for renal failure or diabetes. [Solution] A disease model animal having the following characteristics was provided. (A) the expression of megsin or a gene functionally equivalent to megsin is enhanced, and (b) a phenotype selected from the following phenotypes a) to d) a) Elevated blood creatinine level b) Hyperglycemic symptoms c) stunting, d) proteinuria, and e) Neurodegeneration The disease model animal of the present invention is useful as a model animal for renal dysfunction accompanied by an increase in blood creatinine or proteinuria. Transgenic rats with the megsin gene exhibited elevated blood creatinine levels or proteinuria, and characteristic pathological features showed glomerular epithelial cells and damage from the proximal tubule to the distal tubule to the collecting tubule . Further, according to the present invention, a disease model animal associated with hyperglycemia was provided. The disease model animal of the present invention is useful for analyzing the disease state of renal failure and diabetes and screening for therapeutic drugs. [Selection diagram] None |
