abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel oxetane compound capable of cationic polymerization and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The oxetane compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a method for producing the same are provided, wherein the production method is represented by the following general formula (2) in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide, an alkali metal hydride or an alkali metal. It is characterized by reacting a bisphenol compound represented by the formula (II) or a phenolate of an alkali metal thereof with a compound represented by the following general formula (3). Embedded image (Wherein, R 1 and R 2 represent H or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R 4 represents H or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and R 3 represents —S—, —O—, —SO 2 — or —C (R 6 R 7 ) —, wherein R 6 and R 7 represent H or an alkyl group having 1 to 9 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, and both are bonded to form a 5- to 6-membered ring.
