abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel thermostable protein having cystathionine-γ-synthase activity. SOLUTION: The protein consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 has cystathionine-γ-synthase activity. This protein is a hyperthermophilic archaeon and encodes a protein having cystathionine-γ-synthase activity from the gene sequence of Sulfolobus tokodaii sp. 7 (JCM10545), which is one of aerobic thermoacidophilic crenarchaeons. This is obtained by cloning the gene (SEQ ID NO: 2) presumed to be present and expressing it using Escherichia coli. FIG. 2 is an SDS-PAGE photograph of the protein. [Selection] Fig. 2
