PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cationic electrodeposition coating composition capable of forming an electrodeposition coating film excellent in anticorrosion properties and finish even without containing a lead compound. A bismuth compound and an organic acid are mixed and dispersed in an aqueous medium, and the resulting organic acid-modified bismuth compound is mixed with an aqueous dispersion or an aqueous dispersion paste present in a water-insoluble form.
