abstract The present invention provides a method for producing an aqueous pigment dispersion in which the change in the particle diameter of the dispersed particles is small, the dispersion stability of the particles is excellent, and a colored image with high clarity is obtained, and the aqueous pigment dispersion obtained by the method. Provided is a method for producing an aqueous pigment recording liquid from a body. An aqueous pigment dispersion containing at least a pigment, an anionic group-containing organic polymer compound, and water but not containing an organic solvent is irradiated with ultrasonic waves to produce an aqueous pigment dispersion. The aqueous pigment dispersion obtained here is diluted so as to have a pigment concentration of 1 to 10% in terms of weight to obtain an aqueous pigment recording liquid. [Selection diagram] None
