abstract Provided is a breast image capturing apparatus capable of capturing a high-definition image by preventing a decrease in radiation dose due to absorption of radiation by a front plate of a cassette and an increase in radiation quantum noise accompanying the radiation dose. A radiation source (6) for irradiating a subject (H) with radiation, a subject table (10) on which the subject (H) is placed so as to face the radiation source (6), and a stimulable phosphor plate for detecting radiation transmitted through the subject (H). In the breast imaging apparatus 1 including the detector holding unit 12 that holds the light source 17, the light shielding member 30 that covers the detector holding unit 12 is provided, and at least the surface of the detector holding unit 12 on the radiation source 6 side is open. A control unit 100 for controlling the stimulable phosphor plate 17 to hold the stimulable phosphor plate 17 in the state of being irradiated and to directly irradiate the stimulable phosphor plate 17 with the radiation is provided.
