abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective membrane for gas detection with high sensitivity and high reliability. SOLUTION: A gas-selective permeable membrane 1 including a sheet-like body 11 and usable for a leak detector for gas, particularly helium. The sheet-like body 11 has at least one thinning region 15 defined by removing material from the sheet-like body. The at least one thinned region 15 is formed so as to be partially surrounded by a region 16 which is permeable to at least one kind of gas and which is thicker and substantially does not transmit gas, so as to secure the structural strength of the film.
