abstract A technique capable of easily detecting bilirubin is provided. An aromatic amine having at least two amino groups and a helical polymer having an ester group in a side chain are alternately laminated on a substrate via a covalent bond between an amino group and an ester group. And a bilirubin detecting thin film composed of alternately adsorbed films. After subjecting this thin film to a diazotization reaction, it is immersed in a biological sample, and a bilirubin is detected by measuring an ultraviolet-visible absorption spectrum or a frequency change by a quartz oscillator.
