A novel pyridinethiol-based compound and an industrial antibacterial composition containing the same. SOLUTION: General formula (1) (In the formula, R is a methyl group, an ethyl group, a 2-hydroxyethyl group, a tetrahydrofurfuryl group, a 3-methyl-2-pyridyl group, or a 3-mercapto-2,4,5-thiadiazolyl group.)
