titleOfInvention | Antibacterial glass and glass-like products, and methods for making those products |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact-lethal, non-leaching, antibacterial-effective amount of a metal ion in at least one surface area of a glass or glass-like substrate, wherein the metal ion is b according to the CIE International Color Standard. * disclose said substrate having a color of ≦ + 6. SOLUTION: The antimicrobial substrate provides a metal ion precursor containing at least one source of antimicrobial effective metal ions, which is dissolved or otherwise dispersed in a carrier substance. Depositing the precursor on at least one surface of the substrate; drying the substrate at a temperature of about 20C to about 105C to remove volatiles from the metal ion precursor; Heating the resulting substrate at a temperature of about 600C to about 650C for about 2 minutes to about 5 minutes to exchange antimicrobial metal ions from the precursor into the glass or glass-like substrate. Or otherwise injecting. [Selection diagram] None |
