[Object] To provide a tyrosinase inhibitor capable of effectively utilizing a distillation residue generated during the production of brown sugar shochu and having excellent inhibitory activity on tyrosinase, and a method for producing the same. The present invention relates to a method for producing a tyrosinase inhibitor, comprising the steps of: bringing a distillation residue obtained in a production process of brown sugar shochu into contact with an adsorbent made of an adsorption resin or / and activated carbon; An adsorption step of selectively adsorbing the tyrosinase inhibitor having the tyrosinase inhibitory activity to the adsorbent, and reacting the adsorbent after the adsorption step with an eluent containing a polar organic solvent and water.
