abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a carbon base material provided with a metal layer for bonding a metal material to the carbon layer so that the metal layer is not exposed to the outside. A carbon substrate (1) is constituted by using a carbon layer (2) and a plurality of metal layer pieces (3) provided in an exposed state on a side surface of the carbon layer (2) where a metal material (4) is joined. By joining the metal material 4 to the exposed portion via the soldering means, the solder 5 is filled between the carbon 2 and the metal material 4, and the metal layer piece 3 is embedded by the solder 5. .
