abstract | Kind Code: A1 Abstract: In copolymerizing ethylene-α-olefin or ethylene-α-olefin-nonconjugated diene in the presence of a coordination compound catalyst system, ethylene having a high activity and a narrow molecular weight distribution without troublesome preparation of the catalyst. Provided is a method for producing an α-olefin random copolymer. The method is obtained by polymerizing the following components (i) and (ii) or the following components (i), (ii) and (iii): A method for producing a copolymer, comprising polymerizing in the presence of a catalyst and an organoaluminum compound obtained by mixing an organosilicon compound having a hydroxyl group as a substituent on a silicon atom and an alcohol with a transition metal complex and an organoaluminum compound.
