[Object] To provide a simple and selective method for producing an optically active compound useful as an intermediate for producing an antibacterial drug. [Construction] It is manufactured according to the following manufacturing process. The two esters in the compound of formula (I) are more readily hydrolyzed when the ester on the carbon atom to which the chlorine atom is attached and when the two esters are trans are more easily hydrolyzed.
