abstract | Provided is an image forming method and an image forming apparatus capable of realizing both improvement of cleaning characteristics and extension of life of an electrophotographic photosensitive member. In a rotating process of a cylindrical or columnar electrophotographic photosensitive member, when performing an electrophotographic process including charging, exposure, development, transfer, and cleaning, the electrophotographic photosensitive member has a brush having a fiber thickness of 3 denier or less. The brush member, which is disposed in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the electrophotographic photosensitive member so that the pressing pressure is 0.7 g / cm or more, is rotated at the contact portion between the electrophotographic photosensitive member and the brush member.
