abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a novel environment-friendly diesel fuel composition in which generation of particulates, one of the sources of suspended particulates in exhaust gas discharged from a diesel engine, is suppressed to a low level. An environment-friendly diesel fuel composition comprising a methyl or ethyl ester of a saturated or unsaturated fatty acid having 6 to 20 carbon atoms, or a mixture thereof, comprising the saturated or unsaturated fatty acid. An environmentally friendly diesel fuel composition characterized by having an average carbon number of 17.0 or less, and an environmentally friendly diesel fuel composition comprising the diesel fuel composition and light oil.
