titleOfInvention Method for producing mevalonic acid
abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method capable of efficiently and inexpensively producing natural R-mevalonic acid. When producing mevalonic acid, a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A synthase gene and a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase are used for a host having no mevalonate pathway. The host into which the two types of genes have been introduced is used as a transformant, and the cells of the transformant contain 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A synthase protein and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A A novel method for producing mevalonic acid, which comprises producing reductase proteins and producing and accumulating mevalonic acid by the functions of these enzyme proteins.
