A display device for displaying a composite image obtained by translucently synthesizing a foreground image and a background image, wherein the foreground image for each subpixel is compared with surrounding subpixels in the foreground image to detect a difference in visual characteristics. A change detection unit 42, a filtering necessity determination unit 43 that determines the necessity of the filtering process for each sub-pixel based on the magnitude of the difference between the visual features, and a sub-pixel that requires the filtering process in the translucent composite image.
