abstract A method for reducing information loss in a subsampling method using an APS image sensor is provided. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for sampling an image signal generated by a pixel circuit of an active pixel sensor (APS) image sensor is provided. The APS image sensor supports a normal operation mode and a sub-sampling operation mode. The method includes providing a plurality of column amplifiers. The row of the pixel circuit to be sampled is selected. The image signal from each pixel circuit in the selected row is routed to a different one of the plurality of column amplifiers when the APS image sensor is in a normal operation mode. The image signal from each pixel circuit of the selected row is routed to one of the plurality of column amplifiers when the APS image sensor is in a sub-sampling mode. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
