PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for extracting a physiologically active ingredient of a birch, a physiologically active ingredient composition, a functional food, and a method for enhancing antioxidant activity. SOLUTION: The method of the present invention for extracting a physiologically active component of birch is obtained by adding at least one kind of carbohydrate-degrading enzyme selected from amylase, glucanase and mannanase to birch and performing enzymatic treatment. And performing an extraction operation. The physiologically active component composition of the present invention is obtained by adding at least one carbohydrate-degrading enzyme selected from amylase, glucanase, and mannanase to birch mushroom and performing an enzyme treatment, and then performing an extraction operation on the enzyme-treated product. It is characterized by being prepared. The functional food of the present invention is obtained by processing the physiologically active ingredient composition. The method for enhancing the antioxidant activity of the present invention is characterized in that a carbohydrate-degrading enzyme is added to birch mushroom to perform an enzyme treatment.
