titleOfInvention Diffuse reflectance read head
abstract An improved blood monitoring system is provided. In particular, it is an object of the present invention to reduce the cost of parts associated with a glucose monitoring system. A glucose monitoring system includes a read head located a predetermined distance from a sample opening. The read head includes first and second LEDs that are adapted to emit intersecting light paths. A beam splitter is disposed at an intersection between optical paths. The beam splitter includes a bandpass filter for controlling the center wavelength of the coaxial emission obtained to illuminate the sample on the sample aperture. The read head further includes a detector including a detection aperture and a shaped lens over the detection aperture. The light scattering portion upstream of the lens includes a plurality of steps having an angle greater than 90 ° to reduce internal stray light. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
