titleOfInvention Method of repairing gas turbine engine stationary shroud using plasma transferable arc welding
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To repair a fixed shroud already put into practical use. A stationary shroud (24) of a gas turbine engine made of a base metal has any damage leaving an initially exposed matrix flow surface (70) from a flow region (40) of the stationary shroud (24). The material is removed and repaired by applying a matrix repair material (72) located on the initially exposed channel surface (70). The matrix restoration (72) provides a source of structural material that is compatible with the base metal and is located on the initially exposed matrix flow path surface (70) of the stationary shroud (24) by plasma transfer arc welding. This is done by welding the source of structural material to form a repaired matrix flow path surface (76). An environmental resistant rub coating (78) can be applied over the parent material restoration (72). [Selection diagram] FIG.
