abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a safe water-absorbing composition which has both biodegradability and deodorant properties and does not cause skin irritation when used as a sanitary material such as a disposable diaper. SOLUTION: This is selected from the group consisting of (A) a crosslinked product of a water-soluble cellulose derivative having a carboxyl group, and (B) lysine acrylamide, ornithine acrylamide, lysine methacrylamide, ornithine methacrylamide, and 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine. A water-absorbing composition comprising one or more polymers obtained by polymerization of the polymerizable compound, and comprising the polymer at a ratio of 5 to 15% by weight based on the total weight of the composition.
