abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an alkaline primary battery having high capacity and excellent high-rate characteristics. SOLUTION: This invention is a nickel oxyhydroxide-based compound in which zinc or cobalt is used alone or eutectic thereof as a positive electrode material. In the pattern, by using a positive electrode active material in which the half value width of the diffraction peak near the diffraction angle of 18 ° is 0.4 to 0.48, a battery with excellent characteristics is realized. By using zinc containing 10% by mass or more and 20% by mass or less of zinc powder having a particle size of 75 μm or less, a more excellent battery can be obtained. [Selection diagram] None
