abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing pentaerythritol diphosphite having a specific structure, which is excellent in industrially advantageous productivity, has low environmental load, and is excellent in cost. SOLUTION: After reacting pentaerythritol dichlorophosphite with aralkyl alcohol in the presence of an organic base compound as a hydrogen chloride scavenger, a salt by-produced from a reaction solution containing pentaerythritol diphosphite is filtered. In the method for producing purified pentaerythritol diphosphite, the filtrate containing pentaerythritol diphosphite is washed with an aqueous alkali solution, and the resulting filtrate is washed with an aqueous alkali solution. A method for producing pentaerythritol diphosphite, comprising reusing an alkaline waste liquid as an alkaline washing solution for a filtrate containing pentaerythritol diphosphite.
