abstract An object of the present invention is to provide an insect repellent tatami that is almost harmless to the human body, has a high mite growth inhibitory effect, and is semi-permanently persistent, and a method for producing the same. An insect repellent tatami having a fibrous sheet containing a diffusible borate in an amount of 0.1% by weight or more in terms of boron interposed at least on the front side and the back side of a tatami floor, thereby enhancing the effect of suppressing the growth of mites. And impregnating or applying a diffusible borate aqueous solution having a concentration of 10% by weight or more to prepare a tatami material, cut this to a predetermined length, and sew the tatami floor through the tatami floor.
