PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a fermentation product containing a small amount of citrinin and having blood pressure lowering activity using a novel mutant of Monascus purpureus. The present invention provides a mutant of Monascus purpureus, this mutant were cultured in media containing rice powder 60 g / l, soybean powder 30 g / l and MgSO 4 ยท 7H 2 O 5g / l In some cases, fermentation products are produced with GABA concentrations reaching 0.03 mg / ml, with amounts of citrinin less than 1.0 ppm.
