titleOfInvention | Method and apparatus for catalytically removing nitrogen oxides |
abstract | A fuel is burned under cyclic rich / lean conditions even in the presence of oxygen, sulfur oxides or water, and at a wide range of reaction temperatures, and NOx in exhaust gas generated by the combustion is reduced. Provided is a method for catalytically removing the catalyst without deterioration of the catalyst and an apparatus therefor. According to the present invention, a fuel is supplied and burned under a periodic rich / lean condition, and the generated exhaust gas is brought into contact with a catalyst to remove nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas in a catalytic manner. In the method, the exhaust gas is brought into contact with an upstream catalyst having, as an upstream catalyst component, a first catalyst component comprising, for example, ceria and a second catalyst component comprising palladium, and then a first catalyst component comprising, for example, ceria A method for contacting removal of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gas, characterized by contacting a downstream catalyst having a second catalyst component consisting of hydrogen and rhodium as a downstream catalyst component.
