abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a method capable of producing a diphenylmethane series polyisocyanate which is industrially simple and reliable and has a low color value. The method comprises the steps of: a) reacting aniline and formaldehyde in the presence of an acid catalyst to form a polyamine; and b) neutralizing the reaction mixture with a base to produce a diphenylmethane series polyamine. Two alcohols are present during and / or after the neutralization step, wherein the molar ratio of alcohol to formaldehyde is at least 0.02: 1. [Selection diagram] None
