abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a composition containing a cyclic olefin-based addition polymer mainly composed of a norbornene-based monomer having excellent optical properties and extremely excellent heat resistance, manufactured by a solution casting method, and capable of preventing thermal deterioration. Provided is a film or sheet useful for optical materials, wherein the amount of residual solvent is reduced without receiving the same. A composition containing a specific cyclic olefin-based addition polymer is dissolved in a solvent (1) capable of dissolving the cyclic olefin-based addition polymer at 25 ° C., and solution casting is performed. A cyclic olefin-based addition polymer-based film or sheet obtained by contacting a solvent (2) having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or less at atmospheric pressure, which does not dissolve the polymer but uniformly mixes with the solvent (1).
