titleOfInvention | Method for producing acetoxymethyl biphenyls |
abstract | [Problem] To produce acetoxymethyl biphenyls by oxidative esterification from a raw material containing dimethyl biphenyls and acetic acid as essential components, by suppressing unreacted dimethyl biphenyls from being precipitated in a step after the reaction. Disclosed is a method for producing acetoxymethyl biphenyl without causing any trouble in the production process due to precipitation of dimethyl biphenyl. A method for producing acetoxymethyl biphenyls by an oxidative esterification reaction from a raw material essentially comprising dimethyl biphenyls and acetic acid in the presence of molecular oxygen, wherein the method for producing the acetoxymethyl biphenyls is as follows. Assuming that the molar ratio of acetic acid to dimethylbiphenyl as the raw material is a, 1 ≦ a <25 and that the conversion (mol%) of dimethylbiphenyl is b, [(25−a) / 24] A method for producing acetoxymethyl biphenyls satisfying x100 ≦ b ≦ 100.
