abstract An object of the present invention is to remove various types of wastewater containing water-insoluble substances such as smoke incinerators, industrial wastewater, domestic wastewater, and sludge from incinerators, etc., without requiring facilities such as a filtration device for wastewater treatment, and in any place. Provided is a novel wastewater treatment agent that can easily perform volume reduction treatment and enables large-scale and rapid wastewater treatment, and a wastewater treatment method using the same. A moisture-curable water-swellable polyurethane composition containing a moisture-curable water-swellable organic agent, for example, a polyether-based urethane prepolymer, which forms a hydrogel having a structure in which contained water can evaporate upon contact with water. Wastewater treatment agent consisting of materials. (I) a step of adding the above-mentioned wastewater treating agent to the wastewater, and solidifying the whole amount of the wastewater to form a hydrogel; and (ii) separating and removing the water contained in the hydrogel obtained above and drying.
